    In the lives of college applicants, April is a capricious month.  Admission decisions arrive with their highs of success and lows of disappointment. Financial aid dynamics become known.  Visit day opportunities engulf students' already overwhelmed schedules.  And now everyone around them is watching intently, expecting them to make decisions that will set the course for the rest of their lives. No pressure. 

    At Davidson, our admission counselors stand ready to help you and your students sort all this out.  We can help them articulate the questions they should ask about academic and campus life opportunities, guide them in comparing offers of financial aid, and then help them think critically in evaluating the answers they get. 

    Students who have been offered a spot on a college Wait List face a separate set of challenges, for they have to make both a now and a what if? set of choices. 

    At Davidson, here's Wait List 101.

    • Students offered a Davidson Wait List spot replied to accept or decline that offer by April 9.
    • Recognizing and honoring the May 1 National Candidates' Reply Date, we anticipate making our first Wait List offers of admission in early May.
    • Students who have accepted Wait List offers should make a deposit at their next choice college in order to protect a fall enrollment opportunity.
    • Students admitted from the Davidson Wait List are eligible for all the financial aid benefits of the Davidson Trust.
    • Other Wait List questions?  We invite your students to contact their regional admission counselors.

    When Davidson joined the A-10 Athletic conference three years ago, the sports media had nothing but gloomy predictions to offer.

    This spring, Sports Illustrated declared the team had "outpaced the expectations of even the most wide-eyed dreamer." And all by a team of genuine scholar athletes – students recruited and enrolled not only for their athletic talent, but for their intellectual gifts and academic dreams.

    The arts at Davidson flourish in myriad ways. Those who participate in our Dance program discover new ways to interpret the world through movement in classes or as a Dance minor. They take advantage of new dance studios in Baker Sports Complex, participate in master classes and dive deep into interdisciplinary ways of understanding the universe.

    YINKA SHONIBARE SCULPTURE TO DEBUT IN NYC ON WAY TO DAVIDSON

    On the Davidson campus, education is a process of questioning and discovery – of bringing together those things that have never been connected before. Like Yinka Shonibare and Pat Rodgers. They have never met, yet they are about to turn big ideas into reality through a sculpture placed, first, in New York City's Central Park by the Public Art Fund and, then, on Davidson College's campus.

    SMITH SCHOLAR ERICA SHOOK ’18 POISED TO PUSH BOUNDARIES OF MACHINE LEARNING

    Davidson’s W. Thomas Smith Scholarship, designed to be akin to other national postgraduate awards such as the Rhodes, Marshall, Luce, and Fulbright, provides all expenses for two semesters of study at a major university outside of the United States. Class of 2018 Smith Scholar Erica Shook “wants to flip the script on machine learning by using the technology to better understand the brain” by pursuing her studies at University College London.
