In order to give you a sense of the Davidson classroom experience, prospective students are invited to observe a class in one of the following schools of thought: Historical Thought - Courses that seek to understand past human societies and how those societies evolved over time. Literary Studies, Creative Writing and Rhetoric - Courses that develop skills for creating and analyzing the complexities of language, form, and aesthetics. Mathematical and Quantitative Thought - Courses that study mathematical, programming, or statistical concepts. Natural Science - Laboratory courses that study the natural and physical world through direct observation, experimentation, and/or analysis of empirical evidence. Philosophical and Religious Perspectives - Courses on fundamental questions, philosophical reasoning, and religious thought. Social-Scientific Thought - Courses that employ systematic analysis of qualitative, quantitative and/or ethnographic information drawn from the human world. Visual and Performing Arts - Courses that teach students to represent or express ideas or formulate arguments about how the world is represented in music, theatre, visual art, dance, and screen media. Languages - Courses that focus on how language works, both as a mode of human communication and as a way of constructing the world in different social and cultural contexts. Courses may cover: Ancient Greek, Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Latin, Russian, or Spanish. Please select the two Ways of Knowing that are of the greatest interest to you.* Use Ctrl+Click or CMD+Click to make multiple selections.Historical ThoughtLiterary Studies, Creative Writing and RhetoricMathematical and Quantitative ThoughtNatural SciencePhilosophical and Religious PerspectivesSocial-Scientific ThoughtVisual and Performing ArtsLanguagesAccessibilityA thorough visit to Davidson includes touring campus and appreciating how our facilities complement the life of a student.
